The Making of our Half Zip Sweatshirt

The second layer; in our case the half zip sweatshirt, was built out of the need for comfort and transition. There’s something very comforting about a second layer. Whether you’re throwing it on to leave the house for a walk, or just relaxing at home, there’s often one that becomes a favourite.

The making of the Ace sweatshirt led us to work with one of the very best mills in Italy, Pontetorto. After wading through their fabric books in their London showroom back in 2017, we earmarked a unique polyamide blend fabric as our number one choice. This textile, which had the balance between wonderful hand feel, stretch and functional properties made it the perfect choice for trips-to-and from the gym, and warm-ups and cool downs.

We wanted to create a sweatshirt that had the ability to transition seamlessly from the gym to everyday life. This meant adding design elements which supported us in the fast-moving world, which included a kangaroo zip pocket to store essentials, structural design lines and moisture wicking inner neck binding.

The 4-way stretch fabric offers complete ease of movement, allowing for everyday comfort, whatever activity you're doing.

The half zip sweatshirt design elements include signature O-ring zipper, a subtle nod to our brand identity. We also added our T-stitch on the reverse using a durable flatlock thread from premium thread supplier Gutermann. We included heat bonded seams at the hem, and bonded neck guard to reduce bulk and maximise comfort.

As with all our products, the Ace half zip sweatshirt is proudly made in Portugal at our manufacturing partner. We took a trip out there late last year.
