First and foremost, designing a track pant requires a basic understanding of what it’ll be used for. Although we call the Wolf a training pant, and for good reason, it’s truly as versatile as it comes. Whether you're slipping them on for a morning run, or looking for something comfortable to work from home in, the Wolf delivers on all fronts.
Japanese Fabric and Technology
If you have been following the brand for a while, you’ll know our love of Japan. The craftsmanship combined with its design principles is at the forefront of our thinking when we design new products. You can read more about our commitment to the Japanese design principle of Shibui in our recent design article.
When we started sourcing fabrics for the Wolf many years ago now, we were specific on its criteria. We wanted something which had stretch, could brave the elements, and was technically sound. After months of sourcing, we were introduced to a fabric from Japanese mill Toyota Gelanots. This fabric had all of the features we were after, 4-way stretch, abrasion resistant surface and an added water-repellent treatment. It also had this unique herringbone pattern, which was so subtle, yet evident on close inspection. It was truly the perfect material.
Primarily designed for training, the Wolf utilises a slim fit, which moves with the body, but doesn’t restrict movement. A shorter 28” inseam was chosen to sit above the ankle to reduce any excess fabric toward the bottom of the garment. The waist follows a traditional sizing structure (S: 30”) (M: 32”) and so on, but a drawcord allows for easy adjustment. You can have a look at our size guide for more detailed measurements.
Features & Tech
As we touched on earlier, we added a DWR treatment to the exterior of the Wolf. DWR (durable water repellent) gives the garment protection against light rain. We chose to do this so if you decided to train in light rain, the water would simply bead off the surface and not absorb, preventing the garment from weighing down and become unwearable.
Onto the features. There are a few small touches that can’t be seen on the surface which we added to elevate the Wolf to the next level. Firstly, a secret zip pocket within the right hand side pocket. This concealed compartment has been engineered to fit an iPhone perfectly, and gives you the peace of mind that your belongings will be safe and secure when you’re training. Secondly, heat-bonded seams reinforced with Framis™ tape. This tape has a slight stretch which means that the fabric at the bottom holds its shape, and heat bonded seams provides the cleanest of hems. Finally, the signature T-stitch on the reverse of the garment acts as the identifier of pursuit––the mark that represents what the Torsa athlete stands for.
Whether you're working from home or training outside, the Wolf offers the versatility needed for a great track pant. Head over to the Wolf product page to explore more.
